Campbellton

The Wonder Starts Here

Don’t Miss: • Salmon Festival • Canada Day celebration • Appalachian Motorcycle Rally  • Bluegrass Campout • and much, much more . . .

It’s the entry point to Atlantic Canada, set amid one of the world’s oldest mountain ranges and on the shores of Chaleur Bay, judged internationally as one of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World. Also the home of the “world’s largest salmon” and incredible seafood, centuries of history and a world of natural wonders.

Here, at the mouth of the renowned Restigouche River, you’ll find that adventure seems to come in one size only – large. From the peak of Sugarloaf Mountain to the sprawling expanse of virgin forests, Campbellton is the first to welcome visitors travelling from the Gaspé Peninsula.

A stroll along the city’s waterfront is highlighted by Restigouche Sam, the 8.5-m (28-ft.) tall Atlantic salmon – a shiny, larger-than-life stainless steel sculpture. You can also enjoy our newly constructed water park and visit our kiosks for your souvenirs.

After a lunch of grilled-to-perfection Atlantic salmon and a plate of scrumptious fiddleheads (a scroll-shaped fern plucked from the riverbanks), you’ll be ready for fun Sugarloaf-style at Sugarloaf Provincial Park.

Take the chairlift to the mountaintop and keep your camera clicking… experience the thrill of an alpine slide, hike the mountainside trails or take a leisurely paddleboat ride at the base.

With the ancient Appalachians surrounding Campbellton, there’s no telling what wonders you’ll discover next. From nearby eons-old shark fossils to rocks and minerals such as agate and jasper on the beach, your Campbellton experience is guaranteed to be the start of something special.
