In 1900 the Canadian Pacific Railway built an imposing railway station here. Constructed from granite rock quarried in the area, it resembles a Scottish castle. McAdam Junction became the gateway to visitors and travellers and our long-standing tradition of hospitality will make your visit a memorable experience. The McAdam Railway Station is a National and Provincial Historic Site, where you will find local crafts, visitor information and exhibits of railway artifacts.
McAdam’s national treasures are only matched by the warmth of our people and the beauty of our natural surroundings. In the village you will find shops, dining and accommodations that offer a variety of amenities to meet your travelling needs.
Here you will enjoy the many lakes and rivers with pristine wilderness offering natural beauty and abundant wildlife. You can also snowmobile in winter, ATV, hike or bike our scenic trails which will compel you to extend your visit.
At the McAdam Campground, located on Wauklahegan Lake within the village, and just 10 minutes away from the St. Croix River, you will find whispering pines, breathtaking sunsets, canoeing and paddleboats, with a choice of serviced and unserviced sites. A camera is a must! Campers are provided a complimentary tour of the McAdam Railway Station.
