Discover the unspoiled wilderness
The renowned Appalachian Trail is a footpath that extends along the entire coast of North America from Georgia to Maine. Annually, four million visitors walk some portion of the trail and 2,500 people attempt the thru-hike. New Brunswick’s Appalachian region offers truly amazing wilderness hiking experiences in the same vast and spectacular eco-system as our neighbour to the south – without the crowds!

  • Mount Carleton is the highest peak in the Maritimes (820 m/2,690 ft.).
  • The world’s oldest intact shark fossil, over 409-million years old, was discovered near Atholville.
  • Eel River Bar is one of the longest natural sandbars in the world.
  • Over 100 species of birds – including grouse, giant woodpeckers and grosbeaks, as well as animal life such as martens, moose, white-tailed deer and the elusive lynx are found on the Appalachian Range Route.
